Save energy one search at a time

Its good know that corporate companies are doing their best to save Earth. At least Google Inc. is adding their 2 cents to save energy every time we search.

Being a Google freak out , I would have wasted lot of energy/power for my searches. From now on I want to use Blackle instead of Google for all my searches. Which will save some energy in turn saves the Earth for some more days.

Coming back to original story , what's the difference between using Google and Balckle.
An on article on Rising Phoneix Design that points out that black pixel take less energy than white pixels. That is, for every screen refresh black screen takes 59 watts, while white is at 74 watts, a full 15 watts higher. So now every time I use Google , I will be wasting 15watts.

Today, if you count for all the people who are using Goggle , assuming that each search query is displyed for 10 seconds , with around 200 million queries Google is being used for about 550000 hours every day on our desktops. Which will eat up 3000 MegaWatt-hours energy.

So , start using Blackle instead of Google. No difference in the search results. Only change is in the Color in which the screen looks.
